James M. Wang

James is a member of the Investment Committee and leads the Firm’s portfolio and asset management activities. Prior to joining Crosstimbers, James served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Investment Officer of OneLNG, OnePower and VP Ventures, three distributed energy and power companies, where he led the finance, accounting, and investment functions. Previously, he was a Managing Director and Principal at Ara Partners, an industrial decarbonization private equity firm with approximately $8 billion in assets under management, where he led the evaluation, execution, and oversight of private equity investments. Earlier in his career, James spent a decade at First Reserve, an energy and infrastructure private equity firm with approximately $17 billion in assets under management, where he helped execute more than $2 billion of equity investments. He began his career at Lehman Brothers, providing investment banking advisory services. James graduated at the top of his class from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, earning concurrent BBA and MPA degrees. He lives in Houston with his wife and three daughters.
